Your assignment is due the first day of class. Please make sure that you do not forget to bring it to class. Completion of the summer assignment and a test covering the material is a requirement to remain in AP English Language. This is a fun and adventurous read. You should not find it difficult to stay interested in the story. *see the class website for background information on the novel Questions and Answers:What do I need to complete the assignment?A copy of The Man in the Iron Mask by Alexandre Dumas (please makes sure that you have the version on the novel list. This is a translated novel and we all need to have the same version). *on hold at Barnes and Noble, VictorvilleA bound notebook (to be used for your summer assignment and in class this year).What do I do?Read chapters 1-26 in The Man in the Iron Mask by Alexandre DumasRespond to each ¼ of your reading in your journal (bound notebook to be turned in the first day of class).Answers should be no shorter than a paragraph long and include information regarding your insights on what’s happening in the novel thus far.When do I turn this in?You will turn your journal in the first day of class.Be prepared to take a test over plot elements (what happens in the story) and the characters in the story from chapters 1-26.Is this assignment mandatory?Yes. Advanced Placement courses at VVCS require a summer assignment. In addition, all Senior High English classes at our school require a summer reading assignment.Students who do not turn in this assignment the first day of class and/or students who do not pass the reading quiz the first day of school will be transferred to English 11 or 12.Keep in mind that these classes also have summer assignments and no extensions will be given because of a lack of planning on your part. If you decide not to do the AP English summer assignment, assume you are in English 11 or 12 and complete that summer assignment. If you fail to do so, you will receive a zero for the summer assignment you are responsible for.This is a great book. Enjoy it!!!
