What I expect from u pupil. : What I expect from u pupil. Basic knowledge of Light and its refraction.
Optical densities and mediums.
Basic mathematical operations.
Reflection of light : Reflection of light The phenomenon of bouncing back of light ray when it strike to an object or boundary of separation of two mediums is known as reflection of light.
Total Internal Reflection : Total Internal Reflection Total internal reflection, or TIR as it is intimately called, is the reflection of the total amount of incident light at the boundary between two medium.
Slide 5 :
Critical Angle : Critical Angle The angle of incidence corresponding to which the angle of refraction is 90 degree is called Critical angle.
Requirement for Total internal Reflection : Requirement for Total internal Reflection The light is in the more dense medium and approaching the less dense medium.
The angle of incidence is greater than the so-called critical angle.
Effects of total Internal Reflection : Effects of total Internal Reflection Sparkling of diamond.
Check your understanding : Check your understanding Q1.Reflection takes place when light strike to oblique surface or boundary of separation of two media?(T,F)
Q2. Total internal reflection takes place when light travel from rare medium to denser medium?(Yes,No)
Q3.For total internal reflection the incident angle should be greater than critical angle?(T,F)
Q4.The light signals are transmitted through optical fiber due to total internal reflection of light(T.F)
