Group : Group A work group is a group of people who tend to have similar skills, perform similar work, and may be required to interact with each other on a regular basis. Storming : Storming Team comes together, often still in individual work mode, tend to be polite but non-committal Fairly easy stage (C) Edward Cleary - 2009 16

Storming : Storming Team members begin to test roles and responsibilities, struggle for control and maintenance of independence Conflict and arguments erupt, very difficult stage (C) Edward Cleary - 2009 17

Norming : Norming Roles and responsibilities become more clear, conflict gives way to problem solving, members begin to contribute to the whole team effort, relationships and working norms are being established, some success is achieved Easier stage (C) Edward Cleary - 2009 18

Performing : Performing Roles, responsibilities, work norms and relationships are established and reinforces with each interaction, all members are contributing, team may seem to self-manage This is the ultimate stage (C) Edward Cleary - 2009 19

Adjourning : Adjourning At some point, teams may need to disband. During this stage, leaders need to be respectful of the connections and relationships team members have established by having formal procedures and recognition for team accomplishments and next steps. (C) Edward Cleary - 2009 20
