Keep your eyes on Jesus, not the devil. 2. satan can build strongholds in your life but you can pull them down. 2 Sam 5:6-10 a. Recognize or acknowledge them as being there. b. Be determined to have victory c. Hate that stronghold. Ex: Must hate smoking/drinking in order to quit! d. Deliverance -attack the stronghold. e. Dwell in that area after the victory-make it a stronghold for God. 3. Do not sleep -be on the alert. 1 Peter 5:8-9, John 10;10, Is 59:19, 1 Thess 5:6 C. The enemy's devices: 1. Pride: 1 John 2:16 "lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. a. Lucifer's fall Ez 28:17 his heart was lifted up because of his beauty. b. Pride leads to unteachableness, unsubmissiveness, disobedience Eph 2:2, rebellion, witchcraft 1 Sam 15:23, controlling spirits, a seared conscience, a hardened heart. 2. Unforgiveness: Matt 6:12, 14-15, Mk 11:25-26, Mt5:23-26, Mt 18:21-35 a. Unforgiveness brings torment and breaks fellowship with God. 3. Lies: John 8:44 The mind is a battlefield. a. 2 Cor 10:3-5 Imaginations and thoughts can deceive you. They call evil good and good evil. b. 2 Cor 11:3 Just as he beguiled Eve, he makes the word so complex that you cannot understand it. God's Word is not complicated! Confusion comes in. Study James 3. 14-16. 1. Trust hi God's Wisdom only. Man's wisdom will be used to deceive you. 2. 1 Cor 1:19, 2:11-16, 3:18-20 Have the mind of Christ. c. God hates vain thoughts. Ps 119:113 Look at Philippians 4:7-8 in comparison. d. Uses Circumstances To get your eyes off of Jesus and onto defeat. Don't go by what you see or hear. Is 11:2-3 All that you see is temporal. 2 Cor 4:18 1. We look not at things which are seen but which are not seen. 2 Cor 5:7 4. Unbelief: Heb 4:6 You cannot enter into God's rest and promises if you don't believe. a. Unbelief "apeitheia" non-perusable, disobedience, rejection of God's will. Refusing to be persuaded. b. The enemy will try to get you to not believe that God exists, satan exists, God Word is true for today, the power of the Blood. Jehovah Witnesses do not believe in Hell. Murmuring and complaining is an act of unbelief. 1 Cor 10:5, 10 God destroys them. Slothfulness and laziness leads to unbelief. "We let the preacher read the bible for us." Prayer is work, stay in prayer! Prov 18:9, 24:30-31, 10:4, 13:4, Heb 6:12, 2 Peter 3:14, He 11:6 5. Fear:a. Through the eyes. 1 Sam 17:24 Devil will use our eyes to make something look worse. Goliath. 1 Sam 28:5 b. Through the ears. 1 Sam 17:11 2 Tim 1:7 fear "deilia" cowardice, timidity. Fear is the absence of faith. Mark 4:40. *********END***********
