What is an EIS? : What is an EIS? EIS, also known as Executive Information System is considered as a specialized form of Decision Support System (DSS). Decision Support Systems are types of information systems used to support human decision making

What are its advantages? : What are its advantages? An EIS provides important information to executives and managers in a highly summarized but convenient form. The graphical displays and other media presented by the EIS helps the users to control the system by monitoring performance and finding problems in a very easy way.

Further advantages... : Further advantages... Executive Information Systems are also able of choosing between important and frequently used data, and much less important data thus providing the user with only the information mostly needed and leaving out other less important data

In which areas is it used? : In which areas is it used? Due to their advantages, Executive Information Systems are used in various areas, amongst them, marketing and finance.

Its uses in Marketing : Its uses in Marketing Considering that the main role of marketing executives’ is to create a more effective future, we understand that they need to make very important and effective marketing decisions. An EIS is usually used to assist marketing executives in making these decisions by performing sales analysis such as sales forecasting and calculating totals, averages and finding changes in data.

Its uses in Financial areas : Its uses in Financial areas Financial executives make use of cash-flow analysis for important financial decisions and current trend monitoring. All this is performed by an Executive Information System together with helping the executives in analyzing the company’s performance throughout the years.

Disadvantages of an EIS : Disadvantages of an EIS An EIS is somewhat limited because it cannot perform complex calculations. Sometimes the reliability of the data presented by an EIS is questioned.
