Junior Mathematics programme aligned to NZC
NZAMT JUNIOR MATHEMATICS PROGRAMME ALIGNED TO THE NEW CURRICULUM
Since all schools are required to undertake a revision of their junior school programmes in mathematics to align them with the new curriculum for implementation in 2010, NZAMT in January 2009 assembled a team to write something that would save us all spending time reinventing the same wheel.
Rather than create schemes that are just year 9 and year 10 separately, they have created a 2 year programme that you can fit to various levelled students. Just put them on the programme where they are at and deliver a certain amount of work to them and pick up where they are the following year. Consideration was given to how much time each strand students should get in a year, based on the guidance given in the new curriculum.
There are 10 documents that form the basis of this work, indexed to the resources of the Secondary Mathematics Programme, the Figure it out books and the digital learning objects. You can add your favourites to it easily.
This is only a suggested option you may wish to discuss within Departments and feel free to modify it to suit your own school needs.
It is a start. Any feedback welcomed.
