The Fall of Man March 30.2009 Rev. Esther R. Scott 724-328-3341 Genesis 3:1-6 A. Verse 1 : 1. satan possesses a serpent a. "Subtle" -"aruwm": cunning, crafty, prudent, subtle, sly. b. Notice in verse 2 the woman talks with the snake. c. She was not shocked with the snake speaking to her so apparently there was some form of communication between man and animals, or the serpents. 1. There was no bestiality as some cults say. 2. Beastiality verses: Lev 18:23, 20:15,16. Deut 27:21 d. The woman did not recognize satan because he didn't come to her in a repulsive form, he comes in the commonplace and as an Angel of Light to get us to listen to what he says, he is attractive! 1. We can't see the 'harm' in it like marijuana, alcohol, fornication, various drugs, gossip, etc. 2. 2 Cor 11:13-14 he was not like the TV version. 2. The 1st step of temptation is doubt. a. "...yea, hath God said..." = "did God really say this?" 1. The devil wants to steal your faith. b. Comes to shake your faith in God's Word. c. Comes to bring unbelief d. "Did God really say that?" = "Is that ministry really of God?" "So and so is not really saved." "I'll believe it when I see it." B. Genesis 3 -Verses 2 and 3 1. The woman responded with God's Word but not exactly as He said it. 2. The woman by her reason changes the Word of God. 3. Compare Genesis 2:17 and Genesis 3:3 a. God "... thou eatest, thou shalt surely d\e." b. Woman "...lest/perhaps we will die." (Doubt) a. Woman begins to waiver from God's Word. b. She received the doubt because she didn't have the WOG fully within. 4. The Blame Game begins. Adam blamed Woman, Woman blamed the snake, etc. 5. The devil brings in the lie in verse 4. "Ye shall not surely die." a. he is a liar. John 8:446. he builds on the doubt that the woman had. a. If he can get you to receive his doubt, then he will bring a lie in and you will believe it. D. Genesis 3 -verse 5 1. satan messed up as in Isaiah 14:12-15 and wants us to do so as well. The same lie is told today. Some teach that you can be as God. Dale Carnegie books. Norman Vincent Peale "Positive thinking." Certain preachers teach positive thinking. The Secret that was also on Oprah. You worship self, physical, intelligence, ability, beauty, desire, IDOLTRY, material power, etc. 2. Some ministers actually believe that they are a god. 3. Humanism, pride, envy, rebellion. 4. Man is god within himself and he has the power within himself. a. Yes, God is in you but you are not God! You are the new Arc of the Covenant, He rides within you! You don't need anyone else to teach you but God. Don't follow man, follow God. The Holy Spirit is your teacher. b. The Order: 1. God is the Creator and did it well. (Created.) 2. Jesus is the Mediator and did it well. (Mediated.) 1 Timothy 2:5 3. The Holy Spirit is the Administrator and is doing it well. He still administrates us right now. a. 2Cor8:19-20, 9:8-15. 5. The lie had to be believable (remember Jim Jones? Manipulation is a spirit.) Some people are good at it. a. The man and woman had dominion and ruled. b. It's been proven that most of those suffering from depression, mania, etc believe that they have supernatural powers. c. Ps 8:5 "for thou hast made him a little lower than the angels" is a bad KJV interpretation of the Hebrew scriptures. Should say actually, "Elohim" = God. d. The lie was believable! The devil was saying, "God is deceiving you I am telling you the truth." See the attack on leadership? Just like today. Romans 1:25 E. Genesis 3 -verse 6 1. 2 areas of temptation a. 1 John 2:15-17 all that is in the world system. b. Verse 6 anything 'good' and 'pleasant'. 1 John 2:15-17 1. Sin is only pleasurable for a season. 2. Could God have stopped them? Yes and No a. God gave Adam a free will to choose. He doesn't reneg.
