Brief Description about AutoCAD
BRIEF INTRODUCTION ABOUT AUTOCAD
CAD enables you to work faster. This is mainly because by a giving command, CAD can do on the screen the geometrical construction you specify. It has features of easy duplication and repetition. It makes the tedious and inevitable task of revising and changing drawings in a more pleasant way.
One of the finest features of AutoCAD is providing layers. Layers are like transparent, overlapping sheets. For example you could assign one layer of a house blue print to Architectural wall, another to electrical work, and a third to plumbing details. One drawing can have numerous layers. Such an arrangement, that is having multiple layers, simplifying editing of complex drawings. You can select one layer and edit any entity there without causing any changes in other layers. You can also store drawings or parts of them for future use.
AutoCAD allows greater accuracy than traditional hand drafting methods. It has a capability to check the dimensions of the drawings that you create. AutoCAD also provides an automatic dimensioning feature that measures the distance between two points, draws the arrows and writes the dimensions.
AutoCAD enables you to get the information from the existing drawings and store it in another software package such as spreadsheet. For example when you complete the 2D and 3D model of a multi-storied building, Quantities such as areas and volumes can directly be copied to the spreadsheet within few seconds.
Zooming is another useful feature that enables you to magnify a part of a drawing. Another AutoCAD feature is the ability to attach textural information to an object. For example, Door properties (unit cost, thickness etc..) can be attached to a door symbol. This textural information may be visible or invisible. You can extract the information contained in the attributes and use it to generate reports or to analyze the attribute data in other programs. Doing so is especially useful if you have a project such as a large hotel that contains thousands of doors.
Paper-Model space feature, which emerged with release 12, allows you to construct a 2D or 3D model without worrying about the scale or the paper size. You can draw /construct your model independently, and finally prepare the paper layout. Paper space allows you to set the different scales for the different parts of the same drawing. Using pre-set title blocks together with this feature can greatly reduce the time taken to produce a drawing.
