I ask Allaah , Al Kareem (the Most Generous), Rabb of the Mighty Throne, to protect you in this world and the hereafter. And to bless you wherever you are and to make you from those who, when given, are thankful, when tested are patient, and when sinful seek forgiveness. For certainly, these are the three signs of happiness. Know may Allaah guide you to His obedience, that Haneefiyyah is the religion of Ibraaheem: That you worship Allaah making the religion sincerely for Him alone. As He, Ta’aala, said: {And I have not created the jinn and mankind except to worship Me (alone).} [Adh Dhaariyaat (51):56] When you acknowledge that Allaah created you to worship Him, then you know that worship is not (regarded as) worship except with Tawheed. Just as prayer is not (regarded as) prayer except with purification. So when shirk enters into worship it corrupts it just like impurity when entered into purity (i.e.-it invalidates it).4 albaseerah.org – AQ101 – Class #2 The Shaykh رحمه الله begins the book with a Du’aa and an Advice I ask Allaah Al-Kareem (The Most Generous) Rabb (Lord) of the Tremendous Throne َأ  سَأ ُ ل اللهَ اْل َ كِر  يم  ر  ب اْلع  ر ِ ش اْلع  ظي ِ م Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah Tawheed al-Asmaa was-Sifaat Tawheed ar-Ruboobiyyah The scholars call this براءة الاستدلال (baraa’atul-istidlaal) which means that when someone wants to discuss a particular topic he begins with mentioning the subject matter he wants to deal with. From the Shaykh’s wisdom, he began with mentioning the three types of tawheed: 5 albaseerah.org – AQ101 – Class #2 The First Matter: That you are protected in this world and the hereafter َأ ْ ن يت  ولاَّ  ك في ال  دنيا  والآ  خر ة to protect you in this world and the hereafter ِإنَّ الَّ  ذي  ن َقاُلوا  ربنا اللَّه ُث  م ا  ستَقاموا تتنز ُ ل  عَلي ِ ه  م اْل  م َ لائ َ كُة َألاَّ ت  خاُفوا  و َ لا ت  حزنوا {Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allaah (Alone)," and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve!...}[Fussilat 41:30] الّله  ول  ي الَّ  ذي  ن آمنوْا ي  خِر  ج  هم م  ن الظُُّل  ما  ت ِإَلى الن  و ِ ر  والَّ  ذي  ن َ كَفروْا َأ  وليآ  ؤ  ه  م الطَّا ُ غو  ت ي  خِر  جون  هم م  ن النو ِ ر ِإَلى الظُُّل  ما  ت {Allaah is the Walî (Protector or Guardian) of those who believe. It requires that the servant works in order to attain this assistance from Allaah in this world and the hereafter by carrying out the commands of Allaah with the intention of carrying them out. And, to stay away from what He forbid. There will be difficulties and trials.10 albaseerah.org – AQ101 – Class #2 ii. There must be patience in the face of these trials. iii. The receiving of a tremendous reward for this patience. The reward may be in this world as well as in the hereafter. o Ibraaheem was tested with sacrificing his son, o Nuh tested with a kaafirah wife, o The wife of Fir’aun was tested with a husband who claimed that he was Lord. These types of tests require from the servant a particular stance – that stance is patience. The Prophet said: “The servant receives his station in Paradise because of how he dealt with the trial that befell him.”11 albaseerah.org – AQ101 – Class #2 3. Preservation of its origin (tawheed) One does what is pleasing and loved by Allaah in all aspect of tawheed: al-Uuloohiyyah, ar-Ruboobiyyah and al-Asmaa’ was-Sifaat. 2. Preserving the perfection of its origin (tawheed) One refrains from all types of shirk and what may lead to it. 3. Maintaining the perfection of the correctness of its obligatory matters One should refrain from deficiency in the compulsory acts as this negates its correctness. 4. Preserving of the perfection of the correctness of the recommended deeds One should perform the recommended acts (nawaafil) as this completes the soundness of the compulsory acts.16 albaseerah.org – AQ101 – Class #2 Cases for an act not be considered as worship 1. Major kufr, major shirk or major hypocrisy – this is negation of the origin (tawheed). 2. Minor kufr, minor shirk or minor hypocrisy – this is negation of perfection of the basis. 3. Sinning – e.g. alcohol, fornication etc. This is also negation of completeness of the soundness of the obligatory deeds. 4. Negligent regarding recommended deeds. This leads to negation of the perfection of the recommended acts. ►End Of Lecture17 albaseerah.org – AQ101 – Class #2 Question and Answer Session18 albaseerah.org – AQ101 – Class #2 Summary off Cllass #2 • “I ask Allaah , Al Kareem (the Most Generous), Rabb of the Mighty Throne” – This is a expression all three types of tawheed in one statement • That you are protected in this world and the hereafter • That you are blessed wherever you are • Three Signs of Happiness • Thankful when given • Patient when tested • Seeks forgiveness when sins 1.
