Brotherly Love Verses Love thy NeighborIs brotherly love for the saved or the unsaved? Is it for my church family only or just churches with people I know? Am I to only love men and boys? Who is my neighbor? People I live next to or across from? The one I sit next to in church? The ones who speak back or speak to me first? Or are my neighbors the ones I’m supposed to show brotherly love to.Brotherly love is equivalent to all mankind. Men, Women, boys, girls, young, old, and babies. Loving thy neighbor covers the boundaries of mankind as well.We are commanded to love and the love we show should exemplify which means, to illustrate by example, to serve as an example of, to show by being a living example of Love showing and giving compassion and mercy both to the saved and the unsaved.Brotherly love has an extended measure of meaning. Proverbs 11:1 says A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.This scripture can and should be applied to every aspect of our lives. We will apply it here as we discuss brotherly love.There is AN IMBALANCE HERE. I have heard every year since I have been saved, I mean sho nuff saved,That we spend to much time preaching and teaching to one another, we need to be out there winning the lost, preaching and teaching to them. So brotherly love for each other in the church has not really been taught or respected. I mean God’s word is God’s word. There is so much tension, disrespect unholiness in the church, the physical structure as well as the temple the bodies. We just do not for real for real love on each other. The bible says we must forebear with one another (Colossians 3:13) forbearing is to endure with one another to put up with one another, to restore such a one in the spirit of meekness (Gal. 6:1) Do we really understand what meekness is, one definition God led me to was that meekness is enduring injury or insult to the mind or body.In St. John 21:15-17, Jesus asked His disciple do you love Me? Well feed my sheep, feed My lambs, feed My sheep. God showed me that this is equal to Mankind as a whole. The long time saint, the new born saints, the ones who have not realized yet, even the ones who have realized but are still in chains. And these are in as well as out of the church.Jesus said to feed them. Well what do you feed them? You feed them your trust, mercy, compassion, love ,time, which = brotherly love. This feeding is for the sheep the lambs, the sheep. Yet we feed more trust and mercy and compassion to the lambs, the newborn or those not yet born. I am not saying we should not go the extra mile for the unsaved or new converts, But we neglect brotherly love toward each other in the church.Now Jesus said in Mat_18:21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, until seven times: but, until seventy times seven. In Luke’s Gospel, Luk_17:4 Jesus says, And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.Forgive 7 x 70 a brother, not talking about the unsaved here but an ingredient of brotherly love for those we church with that recognize who their Father is, whether far or near, Jimmy Swaggert, Juanita Bynum, TD Jakes, Kirk Franklin, Tyler Perry, or even me! 7 x 70 = 490.In closing I leave2 scriptures with you. Remember in connection with brotherly love.
