What do study skills require? : What do study skills require? Time management Content management Mindset

Time Management : Time Management Plan a schedule that is balanced! Don’t procrastinate. List activities according to priority.

Time Management : Time Management Limit studying blocks to 1 ½ - 2 hrs. Overestimate the time allotted for each activity rather than underestimate. Study at a regular time in a regular place.

Content Management : Content Management Best way to take notes Make them brief Don’t try to write everything down Put note in your own words except for formulas and specific definitions. Organize notes into an outline while studying for an exam. This may reinforce visual recognition.

Best way to take notes : Best way to take notes Leave blank lines after notes so that you can read more about it in the book or other materials and add to it if need be. Date your notes If you are taking lecture notes and miss something such as a date, leave spaces in your notes and go back and fill it in later.

Tips for Auditory Learners : Tips for Auditory Learners Read aloud to yourself and record it with your phone or i-pod. Record lectures Listen to books on tape Have your friends quiz you aloud Make up rhymes/raps for studying

Tips for Tactile Learners : Tips for Tactile Learners Flash cards Take labs Visit history museums Role play Study more often in short chunks of time rather than cramming.
