2THE AUDIENCE : 2THE AUDIENCE POINTS TO POINTER 1.How big will your audience be ? (your choice of audio-visual aids depends on this.) 2.Is your audience already familiar with the topic ? (are they experts?) Or are you talking to them to a new topic ? Do they have to be dealt with at a special level?(for eg: Are you presenting something to a group of school children?) 3.How long do you intend to speak? 4.Is it a formal presentation or an informal discussion/lecture? 5.Will you answer questions/clarify doubts along the way or will you do this only at the end of the presentation? How flexible do you plan to be in this regard? 6.Is your presentation going to be very detailed or are you merely introducing a concept or product to the audience? 7.What are the main points you want your audience to remember when you finish? 8.And before you start preparing, decide carefully what is the purpose of your presentation: are you informing the audience about something or are you trying to convince them to take action in your favour?
