Objectives : Objectives Broad reflection on what an online course can be Initial resources for understanding what makes a good course Initial look at sample courses Clear directions to get your Moodle set up Basic understanding of editing blocks in Moodle and adding a file or link to a website

What type of course? : What type of course? Fully Online Course Content Assignments, Quizzes, Tests Webinars? Interactive Features: chats, blogs, forums Blended Course All of the above….probably not. Teacher implementation, student needs, ultimate goals.

Sketch Out : Sketch Out Outline form, using your experience plus many reference books Keep in mind the time necessary for students to complete activities, view videos, study for testing Use standards (State or Common Core) Consider student’s access to computers and internet Consider branching, choices and pathways

Two sample pathways : Two sample pathways Teacher developed Start with docs and websites Add Books and quizzes Add Tests Add interactive features Instructional Designer Developed Give designer goals, standards, amount of text and level of interactivity Pilot course with teacher to make adjustments

Course in Progress : Course in Progress Project Based Statistics Needs Analysis: Additional year of math higher than Algebra one is needed, but high demand for more “applied” or “project-based” approach Creative Commons textbook from Saylor.Org was foundation, added video, branch for projects Pilot this November, once refined will be shared with everyone via creative commons
