ICT overview : ICT overview Internet was born in 1973 and Apple, Tandy and Commodore arrived in 1977 In the mid 80’s schools started to use computers in the classroom. 90’s had most schools using some form of technology In 2001 we saw the development of Google, Wikipedia and Social Networking sites. Nowadays schools are using interactive smart boards and other forms of tech. 3

Teachers still feel uncomfortable in using technology. Televisions got released in the 50’s and 60’s The next twenty or thirty years will be interesting. Millions of people are affected by ICT Mobile phones seems to be shaping the world. Technology does not change our behaviour but amplifies it. Suggestions that the more the better. Technology has too many options 14

Conclusion : Conclusion ICT plays an integral part in student learning. Students grow up with technology, educators need to adapt and grow with it as well. ICT in schools is progressing slowly. Educators need to embrace technology and not to be afraid to use it. Successful ICT in the classroom is capturing students attention and keeping them involved. 22
