Slide 2 : An Environmental Psychologist, Michael R. Edelstein, Ph.D. heads the Institute for Environmental Studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey. He has taught there for 37 years, serving the Environment Studies and Sustainability Studies programs with courses in sustainability, Environmental Assessment and Environmental Psychology. His research and writing address social and psychological impacts of environmental contamination and undesired environmental change. Books include Contaminated Communities: Coping with Residential Toxic Exposure, Second Edition (Westview 2004), Radon’s Deadly Daughters: Science, Environmental Policy and the Politics of Risk (Rowman and Littlefield 2002) and Cultures of Contamination: Legacies of Pollution in Russia and the United States (Elsevier 2007). Current underway are a book about World Sustainability and research on the Aral Sea disaster. Dr. Edelstein serves frequently as an expert witness. For some thirty years, he has been President of Orange Environment, Inc. a non-profit environmental organization.
