WizIQ has developed a Building Block to launch synchronous, live classes using WizIQ Virtual Classroom directly from the Blackboard Learn™ System. The WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block allows users of the Blackboard Learn™ System to schedule and launch live classes or view recordings by simply clicking on a link in their Blackboard Learn™ account. The users can easily schedule and manage classes, enter live classes, view attendance reports, and much more. WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block features include: Building Block can be downloaded, deployed, and configured in just a few minutes WizIQ Virtual Classroom can be accessed without additional authentication or duplication of user databases Teachers, instructors, moderators and course builders can schedule and manage classes, enter live classes, view attendance reports and past class recordings from within Blackboard Learn™ Platform. Instructors can view attendance reports for each class from within Blackboard Learn™ Platform Advanced communication features such as web camera sharing, VoIP audio communications, text chat and even screen and application sharing across computing platforms are available for real-time collaboration Instructors can share PDFs, Microsoft Office documents, and YouTube videos from inside the WizIQ Virtual Classroom with all attendees in the course Advanced whiteboard utilities built into WizIQ Virtual Classroom including drawing and math tools are available for a richer learning experience Instructors can allow attendees to use a microphone, web camera or write on the whiteboard Instructors and students can view recordings of the classes Note: WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building block works with Blackboard Learn™ 9.0 and 9.1. WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block for Blackboard Learn™ platform Integration WizIQ Virtual Classroom provides a nicely integrated workflow with Blackboard Learn™. The close integration of WizIQ Virtual Classroom with Blackboard Learn™ platform frees teachers to focus on their content instead of the technology. This integration provides a way for Blackboard Learn™ administrators to easily install and configure the WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block; allow teachers, instructors, moderators and course builders to schedule classes as part of their course offering; and students to enter live classes and view past class recordings. Requirements for Integration Blackboard Learn™ WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block file WizIQ Server URL, Access Key and Secret Key (for configuration) Install and Configure WizIQ Virtual Classroom for Blackboard Learn™ A Blackboard Learn™ platform’s administrator can easily install and configure the WizIQ Virtual Classroom for Blackboard Learn™ platform. It is highly recommended that the person doing the installation be an administrator of the Blackboard Learn™i platform and have some basic knowledge of Building Blocks. 4 Steps to install the WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block for Blackboard Learn™: 1. Log in as System Administrator in Blackboard Learn™ and browse to the System Admin tab. In the Administration Panel. 2. Under Building Blocks module, select Building Blocks. 3. Click Installed Tools and then click the Upload Building Blocks button. 4. Browse and upload the WizIQ Building Block (.war ext) and click the Submit button. If the file is in the expected format, a successful upload message will be shown. WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block for Blackboard Learn™ platform is installed. 5 Steps to configure WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block for Blackboard Learn™: 1. The installed WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block would be inactive. Change the status to Available in both Availability and Course/Org Default. Read all the details stated on the active page carefully and click Approve button. 2. Click View Components to have a look at the details of the components installed by the building block. This is for informational purposes only. 3. Click the Settings button and fill in the required details API URL, Access Key, Secret Key and Default Time Zone. Click the Submit button and your WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block is configured. (Note: API Server URL, Access Key, Secret Key is provided by WizIQ) WizIQ Virtual Classroom for Blackboard Learn™ platform is installed and configured. 6 An instructor can initiate the following activities within Blackboard Learn™ platform: Schedule a class Conduct live, online class in WizIQ Virtual Classroom View attendance report View class recordings anytime WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block for Instructors WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block for Blackboard Learn™ platform provides instructors with a highly organized interface to schedule and manage classes. For each course, instructors, teachers, moderators and course builders can schedule, conduct, manage and record live classes. Furthermore, classes are made available automatically to all students registered in that course. Schedule live classes To schedule a class, the instructor must complete a form to define the class name, the start date and time, duration of class and information about the class. The instructor can edit the class information any time. WizIQ can record every class; however, discretion to record a class is with the instructor and should be set on this page. Once the class is over, recording can be viewed at any time. To schedule a class, simply log into Blackboard Learn™ platform and click the Courses tab. Select the course from the course listing. From the Control Panel, click Course Tools and select WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block. Fill the schedule class form and click the Submit button. 7 Manage classes All scheduled classes are listed in Live and Upcoming Classes and also appear in the instructor’s My Calendar. Instructors can modify class details and edit or cancel upcoming classes at any time. The complete list of current, upcoming and past classes appear on the WizIQ Virtual Classroom home page. Students and instructors can join a class by simply clicking on that class’s title. Students are pre-authenticated from the Blackboard Learn™ system, which means they are not required to enter a username or password to join a class. Instructors can view attendance report including details like, attendee name, exact duration of attendance, etc., after the class is over. Recordings can be viewed any time after the class. WizIQ Virtual Classroom for Students Students can view class listings and class details, enter live classes and access recordings of past classes from the WizIQ Virtual Classroom Building Block. They can access the upcoming classes directly from the list of Live and Upcoming classes and their course calendar. 8 To join a live class or view a recording, the student simply clicks on the class title and the WizIQ Virtual Classroom is launched. Students are not required to enter a username or a password for the class as they are pre-authenticated from the Blackboard Learn™ platform. Once the live class is over, students can access recordings at any time.
