Rational Numbers : Rational Numbers Rational number: A number which can be represented in the form of p/q , where p and q are integers and q╪0,is called a rational number.
*all natural numbers , whole numbers ,integers and fractions are rational numbers , but converse may not be true
*the sum of two rational numbers p/q and r/s is a rational number.
Slide 5 : * The difference between two rational number p/q and r/s is rational number.
* The product of two rational numbers p/q and r/s is a rational number.
*The division of two rational numbers p/q and r/s gives a rational numbers as quotient .
* The absolute value of a rational numbers is its numerical value without considering its sign.
PROPERTIES OF ADDITION
* Closure property of addition
If p/q and r/s are two rational numbers ,then their addition will also be a rational number .
Slide 6 : *Commutative property of addition
If p/q and r/s are two rational numbers ,then p/q + r/s= r/s + p/q ,where p, q ,r and s are integers .
