Speak the song and Q&A's 25 times (with the mp3) carefully mimicking the circled words.   1       2         3        4        5        6        7        8       9       10      11      12      13      14     15      16      17      18      19      20       21      22      23     24      25      Questions and answers  (remember to practice simo-speak)     1 Where is she going?   From this valley, they say she is going.   2 What will we miss?   Her bright eyes and sweet smile.   Have you tasted her smile?   No, it is a metaphor for something that is pleasing.   Can you say a sour smile?   I suppose, but a better slang for that would be, "a sour puss".   4 Can a smile brighten a path?   No, but it can make a journey lighter and more enjoyable.   Why does he ask her to think of the valley?   He hopes to make her feel guilty.   Isn't that cruel, putting a "guilt trip" on her.   Yes, but we want her to stay.   Line 6-8 sounds like he is a whiny bore!   He is in love, this is a "cowboy's lament".   Lament?   A sad song or petition.   11 What does, "bid me adieu" mean?   It means to "say goodbye".   Isn't that a French word, adieu?   Yes it is, but it is understood by most Americans.   But, would a real cowboy say, adieu?   Women like French words, they're considered romantic.   Is this a real cowboy song?   It does sound kind of sappy, but yes.   Sappy?   It is a slang word for mushy.   Mushy?   It's another slang word for romantic love talk.   Can we stop talking about a sappy, mushy, love-sick cowboy?   Sure.      Song title: Red River Valley By:  Unknown   From this valley they say you are going We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile For they say you are taking the sunshine That  brightens our pathway  a while Won't you think of the valley you're leaving Oh how lonely, how sad it will be?
