Active voice and passive voice : Active voice and passive voice The form of a verb which shows Whether the subject acts or is being acted upon is called the voice.

past continuous was/were+being +pp : past continuous was/were+being +pp Past perfect had been +pp Compound form With an auxiliary auxiliary+be+pp

If the subject acts,it is called active voice ,and if it is acted upon,it is called passive voice. : If the subject acts,it is called active voice ,and if it is acted upon,it is called passive voice. Examples. Arjuna killed karna. Karna was killed by Arjuna. Only a transitive verb has two voices-the active and the passive.An intransitive verb has no passive voice ,because it has no object.

Active passive : Active passive 1)simple present is/am/are + past participle 2)present continuous is/am/are+being +pp 3)present perfect have/has+been +pp 4)simple past was/were+pp

Change into passive. : Change into passive. 1)He writes poems. Poems are written by him. 2)she is making tea. Tea is being made by her. 3)They have completed the work. The work has been completed by them. 4)He helped me. I was helped by him. 5)she was mending socks. Socks were being mended by her. 6)The candidate had answered all the questions. All the questions had been answered by the candidate. 7)They will finish the work by sunset. The work will be finished by them by sunset. 8)You ought to do it. It ought to be done by you.

Questions in the passive form. : Questions in the passive form. How do they teach you grammar? (active) How are you taught grammar?(passive) 2)When did they buy the car(active) When was the car brought?

Imperatives in the passive form : Imperatives in the passive form Active voice passive voice. Shut the door. Let the door be shut. Help me,please. Let me please be helped. Hang him. Let him be hanged.

Assignments. : Assignments. Change into passive. 1)I Know him. 2)This jug contains milk. 3)Enter by this door. 4)Who cooks your food? 5)Do not displease him.
