The Bad Vacation : The Bad Vacation Xokmax.com

Slide 2 : Mini-Story: The Bad Vacation Unfortunately, everyone else in the family disagreed with everything Gabriel and Garth' SUGGESTED for alternate vacations. "Really, Moscow? You know they still have Communists over there," said Gertrude as she rolled her eyes. The family was set on going to the Bahamas then, whether or not the twins AGREED with them. Even their dad said, “Look here, boys! IT’S MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY. If you don’t want to go with us, you can stay at your granny’s house.” The day arrived for them to go on their cruise as everyone waited at the Golden Harbor Pier in the dead of winter. Gabriel and Garth were tired of standing around outside so they went to play some video GAMES at the arcade nearby. "Let us know when you guys are boarding," said Gabriel to Gertrude. She nodded and turned back to GOSSIPING with her best friend on her phone.

Slide 3 : Mini-Story: The Bad Brothers Boarding for the cruise BEGAN, but Gabriel and Garth were still playing video games and blasting spaceships away. Gertrude was so distracted gossiping on the phone that she boarded without noticing that her younger twin brothers weren't around. Suddenly, Garth heard the announcement, "Last call for the cruise to the Bahamas!" "Oh no, Gabriel, we gotta run!" They left the video games behind as they ran out of the arcade with their bags in hand. They could see a SINGLE cruise liner still waiting at the pier. "Welcome aboard, boys!" said the captain. Gabriel and Garth sighed with relief as they sat down at their seats. Their legs hurt from so much running. The cruise was full so the boys had a hard time looking around for their family. "Well, at least we made it to the correct seats," said Garth to Gabriel.

Slide 4 : Mini-Story: The Bad Brothers The other passengers were bundled up in winter jackets and didn't seem so EAGER to be escaping to the tropics. "Hmm, what is going on?" said Gabriel. He looked out the window and watched the gloom of the sky hang low. In some ways, he was slightly eager to escape from the cold winter days in Lakewood. "Welcome aboard all passengers! We are on our way to Alaska!" shouted the cruise captain eagerly over the intercom. "Uh oh, we’re going to Alaska?" asked Garth. Both boys watched with disbelief as the ship pulled away from the pier and they set sail northwards, not south.

Slide 5 : Vocabulary Lesson

How To Make A Noun Plural : How To Make A Noun Plural One car – two cars One book – two books One beach – two beaches One tax – two taxes One gas – two gases Structure Lesson The simplest way to make a noun plural is by adding the letter –s. Look at the examples. When a noun ends in –ch, x, s or s-like sounds, we will add –es to the noun to make it plural. Here are some examples. Unfortunately guys, there are some nouns that take on an irregular plural form that are sometimes called mutated plurals. One child – two children One woman – two women One mouse – two mice One sheep – two sheep

Slide 7 : One nucleus – two nuclei One thesis – two theses Structure Lesson There are nouns that come from Latin and Greek and will continue to have their Latin and Greek plural form also as shown below. The news is very encouraging. The Olympics is nice to watch. You have to be careful because sometimes the noun is in the plural form but the verb will appear singular. Look at these examples. My shorts are too big for you. The scissors are very sharp. Then there are nouns that are singular as a whole but the verb will appear plural. Watch this. My shorts are too big for you. The scissors are very sharp. Then there are nouns that are singular as a whole but the verb will appear plural. Watch this.

Slide 8 : Flying Arrows is a good movie to watch. Four Mouths is not a good restaurant. Structure Lesson When a proper noun is either singular or plural it will almost always take on singular form because it refers to actually only one thing, person, place or idea. One baby – two babies One lily – two lilies When a noun ends in a consonant and is followed by –y, change the –y to –i and add –es, making it –ies. For you to understand what I am saying, observe these examples. One potato – two potatoes One memo – two memos Nouns that end in –o will sometimes make things a little complicated for you. You will just have to learn this by lots of practice. One knife – two knives One shelf – two shelves Last but not least, when a noun ends in –f or –fe, you will change the –f or –fe to –v and add –es. This I am sure you have seen before. Take a look.

Slide 9 : Pronunciation Lesson

Slide 10 : “My Way Or The Highway” The boss told me it was her way or the highway. So I took the highway. “Listen son. Either you shape up or ship out. Do things my way or it’s the highway.” Next time, do it his way or it will be the highway for you. They are the kind of people that it is either their way or the highway.
