Description
Circular motion of moving charges in constant mag fields has been analysed. The radius, velocity of an electron moving in one Tesla magnetic field is calculated as an example and demonstrated using an electron gun and a magnet. The important applications of motion of a charge in magnetic field has been included. They are Mass Spectrometer, Cyclotron, and Cloud chamber. Use of mass spectrometer in the field of medicine and use of rings as modern particle accelerators has been mentioned. The pictures of early and modern cyclotrons make the discussion more meaningful. The cloud chambers help in viewing the tracks of electron which led to the discovery of positron. An actual demonstration shows the motion of electrons and alpha particles in cloud chamber.
