How does the Destructo-Culture work? &
Why is it so difficult to change?

If we do not understand the mechanics of the current systems & especially it's self-regulating mechanisms (or defenses), it will be very difficult to change: in fact it is possible that we will simply reproduce the basic patterns with new external appearances.

Class 1.10 of the PDC+++ : Class 1.10 of the PDC+++ How does the Destructo-Culture work? &   Why is it so difficult to change?   PART 2   If we do not understand the mechanics of the current systems & especially it's self-regulating mechanisms (or defenses), it will be very difficult to change: in fact it is possible that we will simply reproduce the basic patterns with new external appearances.

Slide 3 : PART 1 0) Why of Models 1) Biological M. (Gaia Theory) 2) Psychological M. (Spiral Dinamics) 3) Social M. (RC) PART 2 4) Historical M. (Ishmael) 5) Mythical M. (Ishmael) 6) Political M. (Matrix) 6 Mental models of the Destructo-Culture PDC+++ class1.9

"The System" : "The System" What are the characteristics of a complex system? composed of various interconnected parts the connections create additional information not previously visible (the whole is more than the sum of it's parts) new properties surface that cannot be explained starting from the properties of the isolated elements (emergent properties). Homeostasis (self-regulates to preserve equilibrium) M2

Why look for mental models of the Destructo-Culture? : Why look for mental models of the Destructo-Culture? 1) to CHANGE them if they don't work 2) to BE more conscious 4) to accelerate human EVOLUTION 5) to APPLY them: without them we can't change anything (exist in order to be QUESTIONED) 3) to COMMUNICATE more effectively

Slide 6 : we need to QUESTION all mental models Why are things the way the are? & Why is it difficult to change them?

Slide 7 : we each have a model/s of our society, whether CONSCIOUS or UNconscious & with these models we answer questions such as .. Why are things the way the are? & Why is it difficult to change them?

the big question : the big question models exist in order to be questioned according to your model ... HOW do we achieve change a) in the short term? b) long term?

Slide 9 : PART 1 0) Why of Models 1) Biological M. (Gaia Theory) 2) Psychological M. (Spiral Dinamics) 3) Social M. (RC) PART 2 4) Historical M. (Ishmael) 5) Mythical M. (Ishmael) 6) Political M. (Matrix) 6 Mental models of the Destructo-Culture PDC+++ class1.9

Slide 10 : 2,011 a.c. 3,000,000 b.c. Historical Model Ishmael – Daniel Quinn Leavers

Slide 11 : “the cradle of civilization” Sumerian civilization, which evolved in the region aprox. in the year 3250 b.C., built a canal system & the first cities in the world

2 myths that the Leavers tell about us... which we adopted as our tales(& for this reason don't really understand all that well ...) : 2 myths that the Leavers tell about us... which we adopted as our tales(& for this reason don't really understand all that well ...)

Cain & Abel : Cain & Abel Leavers Takers

Slide 14 : “la expansión de la civilización agrícola” the Caucasians (whites > 'the mark of Cain?) met the Sumerians (sheperds) & killed them Cain Abel

Cain & Abel : Cain & Abel Takers Leavers

another myth : another myth Two Trees in the Garden of Eden

the Tree of Good & Evil : the Tree of Good & Evil "if you eat of this tree you will surely die" Eve = Life

Slide 18 : the Tree of Good & Evil

Slide 19 : only the Gods can eat of the Tree of Knowledge ... & have it work in order to know what shall live & what shall die the Tree of Good & Evil

the other tree... : the other tree... Two Trees in the Garden of Eden

the Tree of Life : the Tree of Life

Slide 22 : one branch the Tree of Life

Slide 23 : the Tree of Life

Slide 24 : the Law of Life ... by deduction the Tree of Life

the Tree of Life : the Tree of Life

How do we achieve Changeaccording to this model : How do we achieve Changeaccording to this model Long Term STUDY & understand nature's laws, & return to eat from the Tree of Life STOP the destruction of species on the planet, & NOT CONTINUE TO KILL our brother ABEL LIBERATE evolution so that it can continue with its work of increasing variety, fertility & evolution of CONSCIOUSNESS of the planet

Slide 27 : Short-Term tell the other version of History, that takes into account ALL of humanity, don't assume that only the DC exists tell / buy / spread / borrow /make theatre of the book! Ishmael by Daniel Quinn (v. cheap second hand on Amazon) spread the idea that we CAN THINK & be very good scientists: the Law of Life can be 'discovered' by deduction - we don't need prophets Teach PermaCulture - QUESTION if agriculture is the best of human inventions, & if it is possible that some form of it be sustainable. How do we achieve Changeaccording to this model

Slide 28 : PART 1 0) Why of Models 1) Biological M. (Gaia Theory) 2) Psychological M. (Spiral Dinamics) 3) Social M. (RC) PART 2 4) Historical M. (Ishmael) 5) Mythical M. (Ishmael) 6) Political M. (Matrix) 6 Mental models of the Destructo-Culture PDC+++ class1.9

Slide 29 : “Ishmael” by Daniel Quinn the teacher why are you here?

Slide 30 : eg. Frank & Wolfgang of the Uni. of New Tokio

Slide 31 : a MYTH is a setting that interrelates man, the world & the gods REPRESENTING a myth is to live in such a way as to make the myth reality a CULTURE is a people REPRESENTING a MYTH

Slide 32 : Ishmael asks what is the Creation Myth of our culture ??

Slide 33 :

Slide 34 : our Creation Myth

Slide 35 : La medusa our Creation Myth

Slide 36 : our Creation Myth

Slide 37 : “So that your story of creation ends '& in the end appeared man' " "Yes" “Which means?” "It means there was no more. It means that creation had finished.” “& this is what it was building up to.” "Yes" Ishmael, Daniel Quinn

Slide 38 : “Everyone in your culture knows that the world was not created for medusas, salmon, iguanas or gorillas. It was created for man.” "Correct" Ishmael threw me a sardonic look. “& this is not mithology?” "Well ... facts are facts."

Slide 39 : "Did the entire cosmic process of creation come to an end three million years ago, right here on this little planet, with the appearance of man? Did evolution come to a screeching halt just because man had arrived? Do you see the slightest evidence anywhere that man was the climax toward which creation had been straining from the beginning?" "No. Nor can I imagine what such evidence might look like.” “Therefore what should we think of the story that you told?” "It is a myth. Incredible, but yes it is a myth.”

Slide 40 : our Creation Myth

Slide 41 : "If the world was made for you, then what?" "Then it belongs to us and we can do what we darn well please with it." "Exactly. That's what's been happening for the past ten thousand years. You've been doing what you darn well please with the world. And of course you mean to go right on doing it, because the whole thing belongs to you."

Slide 42 : "Yes. Actually that's pretty amazing. I mean, you hear this fifty times a day. People talk about our environment, our seas, our solar system. I've even heard people talk about our wildlife." "The world was made for man to conquer and rule, and under human rule it was meant to become a paradise. This clearly has to be followed by a 'but.' It has always been followed by a 'but.' The 'but' was there to explain all the flaws in your paradise -- warfare and brutality and poverty and injustice and corruption and tyranny."

Slide 43 : I looked at him blankly. "Come, think. What went wrong here? What has always gone wrong here? Under human rule, the world should have become a paradise, but ..." "But people screwed it up." "But why?" "Because there's something fundamentally wrong with humans. Something that makes people stupid and destructive and greedy and shortsighted." "Of course. Everyone in your culture knows this." I gave him a long incredulous stare. "Are you suggesting that this explanation is false?"

Slide 44 : “There is nothing fundamentally defective in humans. If you are given to represent a story that puts you in harmony with the world, you will live in harmony with the world. But if you are given a story to represent that puts you in conflict with the world, as yours does, you will live in conflict with the world. If you are given a story to represent in which humans are the lords of the world, humans will act as lords of the world ... if the world is an enemy to be conquered, you will conquer it like an enemy, & one day this enemy will inevitably lie bleeding at your feet, as we see it does at the moment." Ishmael – Daniel Quinn

Slide 45 : Longer Term act in ANOTHER STORY & return to eat from the Tree of Life STOP destroying other species on the planet LIBERATE evolution so that it can continue its work to increase the variety, fertility & evolution of the CONSCIOUSNESS of the planet How do we achieve Changeaccording to this model

Slide 46 : Short-Term get this book! (gift it, borrow it, encourage more & more people to read it ... also for being an amazing scientific-philosophical masterpiece) have fun using ALL OF OUR CREATIVITY to spread these important ideas with theatre, story-telling, art, dialogues, courses, etc. STOP believing that we are fundamentally defective as a species, & support others in doing this. TELL the other mytholody - SPREAD it out as amply as possible How do we achieve Changeaccording to this model

Slide 48 : PART 1 0) Why of Models 1) Biological M. (Gaia Theory) 2) Psychological M. (Spiral Dinamics) 3) Social M. (RC) PART 2 4) Historical M. (Ishmael) 5) Mythical M. (Ishmael) 6) Political M. (Matrix) 6 Mental models of the Destructo-Culture PDC+++ class1.9

Slide 49 : the ability to see patterns stories (tales) can be very complex models - mythology, symbolism, many 'layers'

Slide 50 : protection/predation ‘Alien’

Slide 51 : ‘two lives’ / ‘existential doubt’

Slide 52 : ‘the teacher’

Slide 53 : decision: illusion or reality

Slide 54 : birth / resurrection coffins/crysalis

Slide 55 : un-plug / consciousness-raising a painful birth (there is nothing comfortable in the process of re-gaining consciousness)

Slide 56 : many many wires ... lots of fear

Slide 57 : recuperation phase muscles, mind, eyes ... very weak (never been used ...)

Slide 58 : activists ... can 'read the code' ... & keep watch & live in 'the real world' (ugly, uncomfortable, horrible food..)

Slide 59 : they can go in & out of the Matrix but ...

Slide 60 : tutorials about reality & pseudo-reality also very painful ...

Slide 61 : how we are born 'plugged-in'

Slide 62 : lots of practice (after 'downloading' all the theory) mastery requires lots of creativity & applied intelligence

Slide 63 : & confront lots of frightening things

Slide 64 : AGENTS = “programs” = any person who is still plugged into the Matrix

Slide 65 : to enter the illusion ... need to maintain VITAL connexions what do they enter the illusion for?

Slide 66 : our colleagues can be brought by the system & become very dangerous jelousy, superficiality, lack of conviction, doutbs, divergent ethics & values, comfort-seeking, dishonesty

Slide 67 : love & closeness are the most trust-worthy security measures reliable colleagues are essential for when we are fighting in our great battles

Slide 68 : "the Luddites were right"

Slide 69 : use all of the destructo-culture arms that you can get your hands on ... strategically

Slide 70 : level 2: overcome fear . the DC controls us through our 'shadow' (ego) & especially using our most ancient fears we find our own power

Slide 71 : what can we do with it? how to use this power to liberate others?

Slide 72 : what is your bag of vocations, talents & skills?

Slide 73 : pattern recognition understanding the language of patterns is a special type of 'vision' & a skill that can be learned

Slide 74 : Longer term LIBERATE all humans from the programs that trap them in the illusion (UN-PLUG them) So LIBERATING the human mind, letting it learn from its errors (the era of machines is a very important stage) & design a rational civilization Eliminate the PROGRAMS How do we achieve Changeaccording to this model

Slide 75 : Shorter-Term Un-Plug OURSELVES always more - see a Course of Miracles (intellectual) & Co-counselling (emotional) in the mean time... RESIST the temptation to act as AGENTS of the DESTRUCTO-CULTURE (attacking our colleagues who are trying to change things) BE CONSCIOUS that we are most of the time inside & dazzled by our 'dramas' & those of others (the illusion) - we don't see REALITY Teach PermaCulture - as a science that teaches how to ‘see patterns’ & ‘read the code’! How do we achieve Changeaccording to this model

Slide 76 : IF THE WORLD WILL CHANGE it will not be changed by minds with new programmes but by new minds WITH NO PROGRAMMES Daniel Quinn

Slide 77 : is it important to have mental models of the DestructoCulture THAT WORK (explain well what happens & why) in order TO APPLY THEM without them we CAN'T change anything

Slide 78 : “if you don't know where you're going, any direction will take you there" Without maps that describe the territory in an accurate way, any place we go & any thing we do, quite LITERALLY makes no sense.

Slide 79 : "You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete." Buckminster Fuller

Slide 80 : PRACTICE 1) send YOUR thoughts about each of these models, including your decisions (if any) about resulting ACTIVISM/DESIGN 2) think how these models COMBINE, how they fit with each other

Slide 81 : PART 1 0) Why of Models 1) Biological M. (Gaia Theory) 2) Psychological M. (Spiral Dinamics) 3) Social M. (RC) PART 2 4) Historical M. (Ishmael) 5) Mythical M. (Ishmael) 6) Political M. (Matrix) 6 Mental models of the Destructo-Culture PDC+++ class1.9 COMBINE these models, how they fit with each other

Systemic Flow : Systemic Flow Process - Design Yellow 50 yrs 'old' PermaCulture - since 45 yrs Integrating, “system thinking”, holistic thinking
