Description
In this lecture the crystal field theory which is based on an ionic description, so it considers the ligands as negative point charges. octahedral geometry is considered as geometry where the ligands are in a definite position is discussed. Then the crystal field splitting diagram, and this is for an octahedral case. The crystal field stabilization energy is discussed. A term i.e. high spin and low spin discussed from the stabilization point of view.
