Slide 1 : Valence-shell Electron Pair Repulsion (VSEPR) Theory : Shape of Molecules and Ions

Slide 2 : This theory is very useful to predict the geometry or shape of a number of simple covalent molecules and ions of non-transition elements. This theory was proposed for the first time by Sidgwick and Powell in 1940 and was developed by Gillespie and Nyholm in 1957. (lp - 1p) > (lp - bp) > (bp - bp)
