Make-Up Work : Make-Up Work It is the student's responsibility to get missed work. Homework and tests will be listed on my website for one week. It is the student's responsibility to check there for missed assignments and test scheduling.
Class notes may or may not be available online depending on the topic. If class notes are not available, it is the student's responsibility to get those notes from another student.
All previously due work must be turned in the day a student returns to school. Any missed assignments need to be made up within the number of days a student was absent. Missed tests should be made up within the same amount of days that a student was absent, but as long as arrangements are made in the allotted time, exceptions can be made due the amount of work a student may need to make up for other classes with an extended absence.
Work cannot be made up past certain dates within a nine weeks in order to record accurate grades. These dates are not flexible and cannot be changed. These dates are prior to progress reports and prior to final grades for the nine weeks. Students are given several warnings in class that they owe work and of the dates. They will also be posted within this website. Work cannot be made up for previous nine weeks.

Technology… : Technology… We will be utilizing a lot of technology, so you must treat the equipment with respect.
We will be using computers, the internet, clickers, cameras, video cameras, electronic tablets, podcasting equipment… just to name a few.
A first time offense will result in a loss of privileges (time depending on the project and offense)
A second and subsequent offenses will result in loss of privileges, as well as DT.
If your class as a whole, does not treat the equipment with respect, we’ll go back to the boring way of doing things.

This is a mandatory part of portfolio and must be completed in order to graduate.
Assignments : Assignments Homework assignments will be given almost on a daily basis – no late homework is accepted.
You are required to keep a literature notebook. I recommend this be a three ring binder to allow for additional pages.
Sometimes you will be asked to answer written responses to reading assignments for points. You must be able to “rip” these out of your notebook. Not all written responses will be collected.
You should take notes while you’re reading and during lectures.
All supplmental materials for the class are available in some form via my teacher web page and Mrs. Lovic, but lecture notes will not be available. You will need to get those from other students.
Writing Assignments : Writing Assignments You will be doing at least 1 major writing assignment per nine weeks grading period.
A writing expectation and grading guide will be given for each assignment.
All major writing assignments need to be typed.
I am not responsible for bad disks, no toner, or any kind of technology problem. Technology is not an excuse for being late.
All writing assignments must be turned in no later than 2:48 pm on the day it is due.
A 10% reduction in points will be taken for each day the assignment is late.
Tests and Quizzes : Tests and Quizzes Tests will be objective, short answer, and/or essay. No open note or open book tests will be given.
An in-class review will take place at least one day prior to a unit test.
I reserve the right to administer unannounced quizzes as necessary to verify that reading or in-class assignments are being completed. Notes only will be allowed on unannounced quizzes.
If you are absent, you must make up the test within the number of days you were absent. If you return on the day of a test/quiz, you will be required to take the test on that day unless you were absent on the day the test was announced.
Tests will not be graded on “a curve”. If I deem appropriate, an adjustment in points may be given. There may also be opportunities on any given test for extra credit to that test only.
Vocabulary : Vocabulary We are no longer using a formal vocabulary, so much of it will be done as part of a unit.
You are required to do definitions and/or sentences that are graded.
You will be tested on this vocab either as a stand alone test or as part of a unit test.
From time to time, there will be opportunities to do projects to demonstrate your understanding of vocab instead of a test.
Cheating : Cheating Cheating is not tolerated. Borrowing someone else’s classroom assignments, copying/talking during tests, copying directly from other sources without proper documentation, having another person complete your assignment, or copying someone’s writing assignments/homework in part or in whole is considered cheating. You will receive a 0 for the assignment, as well as be punished according to the discipline guidelines.
