The trick is to load your information into all three memories. .
Reading the textbook : Reading the textbook You are NOT expected to memorize the whole thing.
Read the material three times
Scan read
Content read
Review read
Other Reading Tips : Other Reading Tips Keep a vocabulary list
Read in small sections about 15-20 minutes at a time.
Don’t read a science textbook like you read a novel.
Study the pictures and diagrams.

Examples & Exercises within chapter.
Problem Solving Tips within chapter.
Summary, Key Terms, Key Equations at end of chapter.
Exam covers everything in text and from lecture +.

TMI = Too Much Information
For AP Chemistry:
Know the BP for each topic
Don’t get lost in the TMI
Know enough details to sound like a College level student
PowerPoints : PowerPoints Helps with visual memory.

Used as an expanded outline for the “content”.

Take during lecture.
Can hardcopy the PowerPoint for note taking.

Time Management : Time Management Plan on working on AP Chemistry at least a little every day.
Use a regular time of day to help keep you on task.
Record all assignment due dates in your planner.
Due Dates &Test schedule are listed on time schedule
Plan on between 1 and 15 hours per week?
Lab Hints : Lab Hints Retrieve the lab handout which is posted on Website before coming to lab.
Do the Pre-Lab assignment before coming to lab.
Lab Hints : Lab Hints Listen and follow the directions for preparing the lab report. The reports vary in format from lab to lab.
Reports will be done in a lab notebook.
Graphs should be prepared in Excel or a similar program.
Summary : Summary “Slow and steady” wins the race. Manage your time and keep up with the reading and assignments.
Study daily – cramming at the last minute rarely helps.
You need to advocate your needs. I can’t help if I don’t know your concerns.
