Slide 2 : The Tate brothers had been ‘making the cut’ for every sport they tried out for. They had been joining one team after another. They had been playing many sports. They had been getting lots of ATTENTION. All the cheerleaders had been TALKING about them.
Mr. Toadtoes had been telling them to slow down. He had been warning them not to show-off. But they hadn’t been listening to him. They had been looking forward to playing football. And they liked being the CENTER of attention.
So, they went ahead and did what they had been wanting to anyway. They were so EXCITED about joining the football team that they had been playing behind his back. Mr. Toadtoes realized what they had been doing. Of course he was not very happy that they had disobeyed him.
Everyone had been cheering for them when they walked out onto the field for the first big game. The quarterback had been telling the team that he was going to throw the first pass to Ted. Ted felt really lucky. But, Ted was a little FAT and had been feeling a little OUT OF SHAPE.
The quarterback had been throwing the ball to Ted the whole game. But someone from the other team had been tackling him every time he caught the ball. Everyone was UPSET at Ted because he had been losing the ball and allowing the other team to get CONTROL of the game.
Terry had not been doing much better. He wasn’t in shape. So, he hadn’t even been running fast enough to catch the ball. The fans had been booing Ted and Terry the whole game because they were really upset. It got so bad that the coach had to take Ted and Terry out of the game.
