VOICE<br/>There are two special forms for verbs called voice:<br/>Active voice <br/>Passive voice<br/>The Active voice: This is the voice that we use most of the time. In the active voice, the object receives the action of the verb. Eg. Cats eat fish.<br/>The passive voice: In the passive voice, the subject receives the action of the verb: Eg. Fish are eaten by cats.<br/>CONJUGATION OF THE VERB ‘WRITE’/ PRESENT TENSE<br/>ACTIVE VOICE<br/>1. She writes poetry.(Simple present)<br/>2. She is writing poetry.(Present continuous)<br/>3. She has written poetry.(present perfect tense)<br/>4. She has been writing poetry. (Present perfect continuous tense)<br/> PASSIVE VOICE<br/>1.Poetry is written by her.<br/><br/>Poetry is being written by her.<br/><br/>Poetry has been written by her.<br/><br/>No form.<br/>Exercises - Transform the sentences from Active to passive voice. <br/>1. I eat a cake. A cake was eaten by me<br/><br/>2. We should obey the rules. <br/>3. She teaches English. <br/>4.Valmiki wrote the Ramayana.

The object of the active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb: : The object of the active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb:

ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE : ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE If the subject performs the action, the voice is active. Active voice is the voice used to indicate that the subject of the sentence is performing the action or causing the action. If the subject receives the action or is not doing the action, the voice is passive. Passive voice is the voice used when the subject is the recipient of the action.
