This is self-initiated. The readers of this spreadsheet offer their advice and suggestions. I love doing this. 12/28/2010 3. Co-create a course on website, jewish-education.org, on mentoring pre-service and in-service Judaic educators. This first course will cover the requisite instructional and classroom management competencies needed of the mentor. It is exciting to share this construct with my colleagues in Jewish education and teacher training. 7. Offer advanced course on mentoring on moodle, jewish-education.org . This course will cover the interpersonal, observational and reflection competencies of the mentor. It will also include what mentor teachers should know about the theory and research on how teachers learn to teach and implement innovations during their career. (Chapters 8-10 in the Toolbox) TBD (To Be Determined) Collaborate with Wendy, Sam and Katrina on this project TBD I wonder if the members of the USCJ will be interested in this advanced course. It will require their knowing how to navigate the moodle and be able to make audio and video recordings of the various competencies of the mentor. 8/8/2010 8. Create two additional courses: 1. Working with Elaine Solomon, Jeffrey and Deborah Schein Elaine, Jeffrey and Debbie are collaborating with me Our proposal has been accepted. We will present the 8 stage career development ladder to recruit, develop, promote and retain exceptional Judaic educators. This should be both informative and lots of fun- 12/28/2010 Note: The Staff Professional Development Plan (SPDP) is like the IPDP; however, the SPDP identifies the staff initiatives (e.g. onsite and/or online staff development meetings, team meetings, professional conversations, parent conferences and contacts, professional readings, demonstration lessons, lesson and unit plans, IPDPs, course work, workshop, seminars, webinars, etc.) that you and your instructional or professional development team intend to implement during a one or two year period. Final Project Your final project for the course is either your (a) Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) or (b) Staff Professional Development Plan (SPDP). An SPDP is a document that describes your the staff development program you plan to implement during a one or two year period of time. Your SPDP should include these elements (a) the initiatives/activities you intend to implement , (b) the anticipated date/s for implementation, (c) the support you will need to implement your plan; (d) the formative and summative feedback that you have received and will receive and (e) your comments or reflections, and the date your recorded your comments/reflections. Note: See the sample SPDP on this Google document. Note: To receive a certificate of completion for taking the Mentoring Students to Become Jewish Educators: Introduction to Mentoring (MS2JE) you must submit your SPDP on or before Sunday evening February 6, 2011.
