(b) A group of seven jobs are to be processed through a two-step operation. The first operation involves at work Centre-1 and the second involves at Work Centre-2. Determine a sequence that will minimize the total completion time for this group of jobs. Processing time (hrs) are as follows: 10+10 4. (a) What are the factors that cause organizations to redesign their products or service? Describe some of the ways a product designer can use CAD (b) A small firms intends to increase the capacity of a bottleneck operation by adding a new machine. The firm makes its own wheels, which it can produce at a rate of 800 per day. The toy trucks are assembled uniformly over the entire year. Carrying cost is Re. 1 per wheel a year. Set-up cost for a production run of wheels is Rs. 45. The firm operates 240 days per year. Determine each of the following: (i) Optimal run size (ii) Minimum total annual cost for carrying and set-up (iii) Cycle time for optimal run size (iv) Run time 10+10 SECTION – B 6.
