He said, ‘So what did you do?’ I said, ‘I sought for someone to perform Ruqyaa for me.’ He said, ‘What led you to do that?’ I said, ‘A hadeeth which AshSha’bee narrated to us: from Buraidah ibn alHusaayib, that he said: ‘There is no (more beneficial) Ruqyaa than that which is performed on account of the effect of the evil eye or a poisonous sting.’ He said, ‘How fine is a person who acts upon what he has heard, however ibn Abbaas narrated to us, from the Prophet sallAllaahu’alaihiwasallam that he said <> Then he got up and entered his house. So the people began discussing about those people. So some of them said, ‘Perhaps they are those who accompanied Allaah’s Messenger sallAllaahu’alaihiwasallam’; others said, ‘Perhaps they are those who were born into Islaam and so did not associate anything in worship with Allaah’; and they mentioned some things. So then Allaah’s Messenger came out to them and informed them, saying: <> So ‘Ukkaashah ibn Mihsan stood up, and said, ‘Supplicate to Allaah that He should make me from them.’ He said: <> Then another man stood up and said, ‘Supplicate to Allaah that He should make me from them.’ So he said: <<’Ukkaashah has preceded you in that.>> [Bukhaari and Muslim]
