What are they? Cow,van, man,flowersand a train.very good.
WHAT YOU HAVE TOLD ARE ALL NOUNS.
Slide 6 : NOUNS are NAMING WORDS----names of persons,animals,places or things.
The special names given to particular nouns are called PROPER NOUNS.
All proper nouns begin with a capital letter.
Slide 7 : Let us learn some more about nouns.When we think of nouns we think of three things.

GENDER
KINDS OF NOUNS : KINDS OF NOUNS Common noun
A name that is common to all things of a kind.For example,man,dog,city,table etc.
Proper noun
The name of a particular person,place or thing.For example,Jenny,Mount Everest,USA,Alps etc.
Slide 9 : Abstract noun
The name of something which cannot be seen or touched but shows qualities or actions.For example,wisdom,strength,bravery etc.
Collective noun
The name of a number of persons or things considered as one.For example,a bunch of flowers,a swarm of bees,a gaggle of geese, etc.
NUMBER : NUMBER What number is the noun?
SINGULAR for one thing.
for example,man,city,flower,cow,etc.
PLURAL for two or more things.
for example,men,cities,flowers,cows,etc.
GENDER : GENDER What gender is the noun?
Masculine gender.
Those nouns that denote a male.For example,boy,lion,cock,hero,uncle,etc.
Feminine gender.
Those nouns that denote a female.For example,girl,lioness,hen,heroine,aunt,etc.
Neuter gender.
Those that denotes niether male nor female(generally things without life).For exampleball,purse,book,shoe,house,etc.
ABSTRACT NOUNS : ABSTRACT NOUNS ABSTRACT NOUNSshow a quality,action,or state which we cannot see or touch but can touch but can understand.
For example,happiness,patience,kindness,etc.
Exercise 1 : Exercise 1 Circle the word in each row that is NOT a noun.(remember a noun is a naming word)

Remember : Remember Common nouns that have special names are proper nouns.
You are a girl and your name is Christy
You are a boy and your name is Peter
Girl and Boy are common nouns.
Christy and Peter are proper nouns and always begin with capital letters.
