ADOBE TIPS AND TRICKS PHOTO MANIPULATION There are all sorts of things that you can do with photo manipulation. Take for example, you have this picture of your hand and you are not happy with your five fingers and want one more; then Photo Manipulation is the technique that can help you achieve that. Photo Manipulation is basically exploiting your image by merging external elements. Photo Manipulation is to not only add some external object but you can also exploit the real image itself; suppose you want a scar or just want to change your eye color then this is just your thing; some even use it for a digital shave. Hopefully by the time you reach the end of this PDF you will have pretty much the basic of Photo Manipulation. To start with, let me show how we can add external elements and merge it. Look at this image, looks pretty much like Lake Loch ness. So why not add up the monster. Who knows if I publish it online then I can get a good sum of money$. Notice that the image of the monster has no rectangle or square boundary this is because the image is saved in a format known as the PNG, you can find this in the ‘save as’ dialog box; what PNG does is saves the transparency information within the image and thus it occupies less space. There is another reason why I prefer this format, for example, take the above image now if you would insert a rectangle image there was no way you could merge it with the background. Follow up you will understand. Notice the monster under water; this can be done, indeed very easily. To do this, open the first image then open the image of the monster. Now here is an important piece of advice, if you want to extract the insert [the required object] from an image the just grab on to the Quick Selection and make a selection then right-click on the selection and choose Layer via copy and you will find it on the Layer panel on the right of your display, you will see that the object appears in front of a white-grey mesh. To finish it of hold Ctrl+n this will open the NEW dialog box then choose your canvas size and drag the layer onto the new window, center the object and save it as PNG. However, if you save it as a JPEG then as I said there will be that boundary. Now that your object is ready, open your object and the image together. Notice that even if you drag the object then yet it looks bad because the color and opacity does not compliment the background very well. So first, resize it by clicking on the object layer and pressing Ctrl+t and position it. Once all that is done double click on the layer that contains the object you see this. Notice the opacity slider play around with it until you feel that it is quite right. And as my monster is under water, I added an effect to my monster known the ripple effect. This effect can be used from the filter gallery. The filter gallery is situated on the control panel. Most important, at this stage you cant save your image as a JPEG so here is what you have to do. Click on the layer option on the top control panel and click on ‘Flatten Image’ on the drop down list. Rooman Amin©
