CLASSIFICATION : CLASSIFICATION Essays may be classified as NARRATIVE ESSAYS DESCRIPTIVE ESSAYS EXPOSITORY ESSAYSand IMAGINATIVE ESSAYS.

Slide 4 : A reflection is a thought on some subject-or an idea arising in the mind,which is generally of an abstract in nature.Like 1.habits,qualities etc., like truthfullness,cowardice,heroism,industry,etc., 2.social,political and domestic topics,such as riches,poverty,caste,liberty,family life,marriage,etc., 3.Philosophical subjects,such as right and wrong,reality,consciousness,etc., 4.Religious and theological topics REFLECTIVE ESSAYS

Slide 5 : In treating such themes,one should try 1.To explain,for example, the advantages of good habits;quote stories;fables etc., in support of our statements, 2.Discuss 3.Expound and Reason we should support our statements with arguments and facts.

Slide 6 : A narrative essay consists mainly in the narration of some event,or series of events. A narrative essay must not be confused with a short story or bits of history The narrative it relates should be treated as a subject for thought and comment. narrative essays

Slide 7 : Narrative essays may treat of 1.Historical stories and legends 2.Biographies 3.Incidents 4.An accident or natural disaster 5.A journey or voyage 6.A story

Slide 8 : A descriptive essay consists of a description of some place or thing like; 1.animals,plants,minerals 2.towns,countries,buildings, etc., 3.Aspects and phenomena of nature 4.Manufactured articles descriptive essays

Slide 9 : An expository essay or explanatory essay consists of an exposition or explanation of some subject like, 1.institutions,industries,occpations 2.Scientific topics 3.Literary topics etc., expository essays

Slide 10 : In imaginative essays the writer is called to place himself in a position of which he has no actual experience. Such subjects a “If I were a king” or “The autobiography of a horse,” would call for imaginative essays. imaginative essays

Slide 11 : The above classification is useful,as long as it is remembered that these classes are not mutually exclusive,and that some essays may partake of peculiarities of more than one class. For example,a narrative essay may contain a good deal of description;and essays of all classes should be more or less reflective,for the original idea of this form of composition is an expression of the writer’s own feelings and opinions about a given subject.
