Face to Face Teaching

I was responsible fiscal and programmatic operations, conducting scholarly research and assisting the Charles Babbage Foundation and the Institute of Technology in fund-raising for the Institute. I raised the foundation endowment funds to a point where they now support the salary of the Director. I obtained two National Science Foundation multi-year, multi-investigator grants for studies of the Computer as a Scientific Instrument and the History of Software.

I prepared historical materials for the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Los Alamos National Laboratory and directed a variety of historical projects for the Center including a history of technology transfer and a history of nuclear weapons research and development.

I directed the project to prepare a comprehensive overview of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. This project involved a comprehensive survey of the Laboratory and the preparation of official documents used in the communication of the Laboratory with government and private sponsors.

I directed the Bradbury Science Museum of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, supervised 9 full-time and 20 part-time employees, formulated the budget for the Museum, reviewed employee performance, formulated mission, goals, strategic plan and collections and proposed new exhibits

I documented the history of military laser R&D, conducted, supervised the transcription of, and edited oral histories and a finding aid to resources in military repositories. These materials are now at the Center For History of Physics

I researched the history of the laboratory resulting in a number of publications.

I supervised pre- and postdoctoral research assistants' inventories of historic engineering sites in Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico for the American Society of Civil Engineers Historic Civil Engineering Landmark Program and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

I designed the Exhibit, "Nuclear Science in Berkeley: the Lawrence Years" which was for 20 years the central exhibit at the Lawrence Hall of Science, a research center in scientific education.
