About MADHU ERAVANKARA

Basically I am a teacher of Cinema. I have the added advantage of being a filmmaker. I was teaching film in various institutions ( Both govt. and private)and for non-government agencies.I have taught film and given training for filmmaking in Audio Visual Institute of Eritrea, North East africa. I have conducted Filmmaking workshop both in India and abroad. My area of research is 'Literature and Cinema' for which I had fellowships from National Film Archive of India and Dept. of Culture, Govt. of India. I am a prolific writer in Malayalam and English. I have six books to my credit, including 4 books on film, one short story collection and one Travelogue. I am the receipient of National Film Award with Presidents Gold Medal for the Best Book on Cinema (1999) , State Film Awards ( 1999, 2003) State Television Award ( 2007 ),Film Critics Awards ( 2000, 2002, 2003 . I have served as Jury member in International Film Festivalsof Mumbai ( 2003), Yamagata ( 2005), Brisbane ( 2006 ), Istanbul ( 2008). I am a member of International Film Critics Federation ( FIPRESCI ). I would love teaching cinema to any genuinly interested students.

I have made films for many organisations including Govt. of Kerala and State of Eritrea, North East Africa. I have served as Media Director in Audio Visual Institute of Eritrea ( 1997-99), North East Africa. Many of my films have been screened in Intenational Film Festivals and selected for Awards.
