About J. Radney

My name is Randy Radney, born Alaskan and naturalised this year in Canada after a couple decades living in BC. My background is in linguistics and philosophy, which I have taught for more than a decade at the graduate and undergrad levels. I have taught in other course management systems, but have designed courses in linguistics, ethnography, and philosophy for online and hybrid (class-plus-online) delivery. For several years, I was the director of a graduate linguistics program, but my family and I missed life in the north (I did about a decade of fieldwork with an interior First Nations group in analysis, translation, and curriculum development, and didn't really ever want to leave!). As a result, in 2006, I moved to Williams Lake, where I have been an occasional instructor in the local (Thompson Rivers Univ.) university prep program, teaching and tutoring English, assisting in sociology and other courses, and starting a small business providing face-to-face support for students in the local area who are taking university courses by distance and/or online delivery (for more information, see bclearningcoach.ca). I am presently available for interaction via Diigo, LinkedIn, Ning, and other sites. I welcome interaction and community.
