Publications and Research
The Fourth Dimension in Curriculum Development Planning, The Positive Evolution:
O.R.J. Francis, University of Birmingham Press
"An original and personal perspective which shows depth of understanding... Skilled synthesis of material... Detailed and carefully supported critical analysis and evaluation, weighs evidence carefully. Highly relevent study which effectively links book survey findings to literature and curriculum theory....Carefully presented and argued in readable and scholary style. A clear explanation of the methodolgy used....A holistic dissertation...It would be easy to argue that some aspects are not stated clearly enough, but the depth of thought and originality are such to outweigh them...Concerns with the needs of African-Caribbean students have encouraged Francis to take elements of different curriculum theories and re-synthesise them into a single curriculum theory. The Jjob Experiment, with all it's faults would be the basis for an article. A unique dissertation" (Dr. G. Tall, University of Bimingham, 1997).
Racism is driving children away from Science Lessons
Birmingham Post
As a result of The Jjob Experiment and in conjunction with the DELIVERING INCLUSION in SCIENCE COMMUNICATION conference organised by the AFRICAN NETWORK for SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY (ACNST) at Millennium Point, Birmingham, UNITED KINGDOM, the conference concluded that, '...there is Institutional racism in Science when [African and or Caribbean] people are presented negatively [or not at all] in textbook material'.
Young Gifted and Black
Birmingham Evening Mail
Following The Birmingham Evening Mail's theme of: 'Life in the 1990's for Black People', the article centered on the achievements of the current Director of the 4d-Curriculum particularly his return as a Physics/Mathematics Teacher to the former Inner City Comprehensive School he attended as a pupil. Under one section of the Mail's Article entitled: Politics of Racism; the 4d-Director states 'Children are born pure in heart as far as I am concerned; and we instill ideas in them...Show me the child and I will show you the parent'.
Jjob aims to get rid of the barriers
Stoke SENTINEL
During his three year Presidency of the ALL-AFRICANS SOCIETY whilst studying as an Undergraduate in Physics with Statistics and Operational Methods at the now University of Staffordshire, the present 4d-Director organised an Annual Cultural Exhibition with the aim of '...creating more of an understanding between the City and it's African-Carib members - and so help to achieve a more harmonious multi individual/cultural SPIRIT in the area,.
In the first year (of his three year term) as President of the then Afro-Caribbean Society, our current 4d-Director almalgamated ['synthesised'- fourth dimensionally] the Afro-Caribbean Society with the Nigerian, Camaroon, Zimbabwean and West African Societies into one 'wholisitic' generic ALL-AFRICANS SOCITY. In the three years of the Annual Cultural Exhibition there was approximately 4500 in attendance. the ALL-AFRICAN SOCIETY also organised weekly Cinema Sessions at the University's Film Theatre for the Local Community which was highly popular and always filled to capacity.
