Professional Experience
Research Engineer
Vast Power Systems, Indiana, United States
May 2003 - Jun 2005R&D: Directed theoretical and computational investigations to develop a novel strategy to accomplish the stable combustion of a highly-diluted and conventionally-inflammable hydrocarbon-air-water mix. Lead efforts to design and a build bench-scale proof-of-concept experiment to corroborate the results determined by the theoretical and computational exercises. Supervised proof-of-concept experimental efforts.
Intellectual Property: Authored a patent application to the US and international p
Research Assistant
Stanford University, California, United States
Aug 1998 - May 2003: Conducted studies in the High Temperature Gasdynamics Laboratory on the characterization of biomass and char oxidation during combustion. Studies involve the use of a flow reactor and thermogravimetric techniques. Designed and built system to extend the capability of the atmospheric entrained laminar flow reactor allowing operation at pressures up to 50 atm. Designed and built gas flow control, gas sensor and data acquisition systems for use with thermogravimetric system.
Student Intern
Alcoa Minerals of Jamaica, Jamaica
May 1996 - Aug 1996Research: Conducted a preliminary assessment and feasibility study on the implementation of a new pollution prevention and waste minimization strategy at the refinery.
Field work: Collected and analyzed environmental samples (ground-water and air quality) for assessments on the plant’s chemical effects on the surrounding environment.
Surveys: Participated in the 1996 Hazardous Materials Survey on all the refinery operations.
Student Intern
Argonne National Labs, Illinois, United States
Jan 1996 - May 1996Research: Guided a bench-scale experiment on the optimization of a new chemical separation process for industrial use.
Technician: Developed professional expertise in the use of various lab equipment such as chromatographs as well as other chemical analyzers. Also authored manuals to aid in using the lab’s most elaborate devices.
