When I speak, I endeavor to engage participants in the joy of learning about the use of plant medicine, specifically how to integrate herbs and food into consumer-driven healthcare and how to do so safely and effectively. Because I advocate consumer-driven healthcare, a portion of teaching always involves helping individuals see their rights and responsibilities as it involves their own healthcare. Served as a member of the boards of both the non-profit and for-profit arms of the business to set policy and principles for the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), at the time a 250,000 member organization with headquarters in both D.C. and North Texas. During that time, I served on the following committees: Scholarship, Member Benefits, Finance, Governance, and Publications. In the last year I served, I was the elected Secretary of the association.

Served on the board of this organization dedicated to empowering women in the northeast Louisiana area with options regarding life decisions they had made.

Together with a friend involved in philanthropic work, we began VBAC of Tarrant County, Inc. to provide birthing choices to women in Tarrant County, Texas, specifically with the purpose of reducing rising cesarean rates in our surrounding area. During that time, I served as President of the organization in 1991.

This collaboration between two friends gives you recipes that will make your family eager to come to the table, as well as all the foundational information needed to make wise choices in preventive health care.
