 Project description: The plant Hedychium coronarium has been collected and compounds (RB1 & RB2) extracted from rhizome part only with a mixture of solvents pet. Ether, ethyl acetate and ether in the ratio 1:1:1

RB1: The compound isolated is found to be unsaturated in nature. Elements analysis shows the presence of C, H & O. The compound contains alcoholic-OH group, esteric [-C(=O)-O-C] group.


RB2: The compound isolated is found to be unsaturated in nature. Elements analysis shows the presence of C, H & O. The comp0und contains alcoholic-OH group, esteric [-C(=O)-O-C] group and carbonyl>C=O group.



 Skills: Working out the structures of compounds from spectroscopic analysis, identification of elements and functional groups by chemical analysis, working with the instruments like FT-IR spectrophotometer, UV-VIS. Spectrophotometer, TLC, Column chromatography etc.
