# CAT Maths Time-Speed-Distance online Test

A motorcyclist rode the first half of his way at a constant speed. Then he was delayed for 5 minutes and therefore, to make up for the lost time he increased his speed by 10 km/h. Find the initial speed of the motorcyclist if the total path covered by him is equal to 50 km.

Hemant and Ajay start a two-length swimming race at the same moment but form opposite ends of the pool. They swim in lane and at uniform speeds, but Hemant is faster than Ajay. They first pass at a point 18.5 m from the deep end having completed one length, each one is allowed to rest on the edge for exactly 45 seconds. After setting off on the return length, the swimmers pass for the second time just 10.5 m from the shallow end. How long is the pool?

Rahim sets out across a forest. On the first day, he completes 1/10th of journey. On the second day, he covers 2/3rd of the distance travelled the first day. He continues in this manner, alternating the days in which he travels 1/10th of the distance still to be covered, with days on which he travels 2/3 of the total distance already covered. At the end of seventh day, he finds that 22½ km more will see the end of his journey. How wide is the forest?

Two guns were fired from the same place at an interval of 12 mins but a person in the train approaching the place hears the second shot 10 mins after the first. Find the speed of the train if the speed of sound is 330 m/s.

Two trains X and Y leave stations A and B, respectively, 180 km apart. Train X goes @ 70 kmph non- stop towards B. While train Y goes @ 50 kmph towards A but stops for 15 mins. at station , known to be 60 km apart from station B. At what approximate distance (in kms) from station A will both the trains meet?

In a race, A beats B by 12 metres and C by 18 metres. In another race of same length B beats C by 8 metres. The speed of A, B, & C remain constant. The length of the track in meters is:

In a 4000 meter race around a circular stadium having a circumference of 1000 meters, the fastest runner and the slowest runner reach the same point at the end of the 5th minute, for the first time after the start of the race. All the runners have the same starting point and each runner maintains a uniform speed throughout the race. If the fastest runner runs at twice the speed of the slowest runner, what is the time taken by the fastest runner to finish the race?

If a man cycles at 10 km/hr, then he arrives at a certain place at 1 p.m. If he cycles at 15 km/ hr, he will arrive at the same place at 11 a.m. At what speed must he cycle to get there at noon?

Ram and Shyam run a race between points A and B, 5 km apart. Ram starts at 9 a.m. from A at a speed of 5 km/hr, reaches B, and returns to A at the same speed. Shyam starts at 9:45 a.m. from A at a speed of 10 km/hr, reaches B and comes back to A at the same speed. At what time do Ram and Shyam first meet each other?
