About the Class

Authoring a book serves as a gateway for teacher development and using an appropriate platform for presenting ideas is essential for a teacher to work on a book. In this regard, it is worthwhile to mention that Moodle is the best tool for publishing a chapter, as it facilitates not just collaborative contribution (among authors) on a common theme but widens professional contacts too. The collaborative contribution in this context refers to the editing done mutually by every contributor of a chapter. Needless to say, in this attempt a reviewer learns different topics of discussion presented in the form of chapters. The presenter, who happens to be one of the contributors, would share her writing experience with the help of Moodle, with the virtual audience. The objectives of this presentation would be, 1. To motivate teachers to share their views or classroom experiences in the form of a book (that is working towards teacher development) and 2. To highlight the advantages in using Moodle in general not only as an authoring tool but also as a tool for collaborative learning. The presenter would also discuss the possibility of sharing various articles with students while using the Moodle to teach language skills.

Dr. Viswanathan works as a Professor of English in B.S.Abdur Rahman University. She has 19 years of teaching experience in handling ESL and EFL students at the tertiary level. She specializes in Self-Directed Learning and Technology Integrated Language Learning and Teaching. She likes to conduct short studies in the classroom and promote language learning using technological tools such as Blog, Podcasts and Mobile devices, to list a few. I am a teacher trainer and regularly conduct workshops for teachers on using technology in the language classroom. I love presenting papers in conferences and learn from other presentations.
