About Howard Rheingold
Howard Rheingold is a writer, teacher and speaker, currently teaching at Stanford University. He is the author of the recent acclaimed book "Net Smart: How to Thrive Online." His 1985 book, "Tools For Thought: The History and Future of Mind-Amplifying Technology," 1992 book "The Virtual Community: Homesteading on the Electronic Frontier," and his 2002 book, "Smart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution," have been praised as prescient forecasts of the technological revolutions that have since come to pass. He was the editor of the "Whole Earth Review" and the "Millennium Whole Earth Catalog," founding executive editor of "HotWired," the pioneering webzine from Wired Magazine, founder of Electric Minds, named by Time magazine as one of the ten best websites of 1996. He has taught at the UC Berkeley School of Information, was visiting professor at De Montfort University in the UK, and was the invited Regents Lecturer at UC Berkeley in 2012.

Nellie holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in educational leadership specializing in curriculum & instruction and is an E-Learning Professional Development Specialist.
She is the founder of Integrating Technology for Active Lifelong Learning (IT4ALL), an online informal network of volunteers that provides free and low-cost professional development workshops for educators around the world. The hands-on workshops help teachers learn to integrate technology into blended and fully online classes for private and public courses.
