Edupunk Weekly Update

Weekly happenings at The Edupunk Channel on WizIQ. This is a general discussion about what we do, who we are, and how you might get involved with us. Please visit our blog for more info www.TheEdupunk.com

This is an experiment for scheduling a class on WizIQ but bypassing the WizIQ VC. It is our intention to take advantage of the scheduling tool but instead of joining us on WizIQ you will be prompted to join us on another platform. This is not recommended by anyone at WizIQ. We just want to see how it will work. This will give us the ability to stream to mobile units (within a browser app but one day full interaction on mobiles) and expand our potential live audience to non-computer students. It will also give us the ability to store and make accessible asynchronous (recorded) viewing.

Step 1

Use the Join Class button (above) to schedule yourself into this class.

.

Step 2

On the day of class do NOT use the WizIQ "Launch Class" button. Instead go to step 3 or 4 below.

Step 3

On the day and time of class, if you have 1MBPS (1000kbps) bandwidth, you can launch the event (opens the live broadcast) by clicking here .

.

Step 4

Or you can simply watch the event right here (viewer is at top of this description). You will only be able to observe if you watch it here but this would not require such a large bandwidth. You can join the event by clicking on the "Join-Event" button in the bottom left corner. Then follow directions.

Profile Summary

We do not need "them", we only need each other.

This group of pilgrims called "The Edupunk" are seeking a new paradigm for online learning. We hold to several core principals:
1. All can teach, all should teach
2. Mistakes and willing to risk mistakes are much prefered over the false goal of perfection.
3. Fun activities and gaming are not only more engaging, they are the key to a sustainable model for learning... anything.
4. Live interaction and group activities create the basis for deep and experiential learning.
5. Accountability and competition is the basis of our community. We build and only associate with leaders who can recognize that they and every member have knowledge to share.
