About the Class

In this session, Dr. Drechsler will describe the aims, the technologies, and the methodical choices.

In order to overcome the problem of a dispersed rural area, the department of Indre has opted for the development of “blended learning” training. This is characterised by « the deliberate introduction into a system of innovative factors: the support for classroom teaching and distance learning by a technological learning environment. » To accomplish this, it is imperative to establish a foundation for active learning and development based on the modelling of hybrid distance learning. In this experiment, we highlight new ways of learning, knowledge modelling, and training tasks with examples of diagrams and roadmap tasks (Ernst, 2008) as well as scenarios, created during training, which incorporate virtual worlds. The evaluation of the system has been based on both a survey distributed to participants as well as the observations drawn from this experiment regarding the various “learning factors” which are brought together in the pragmatic learning model (Lebrun, 2007). Also taken into account are the five main ingredients required for the proposed blended- learning design (Carman, 2005) and the eight necessary steps for blended learning (Woodall, 2010). The author suggests some methodological principles in which digital resources have a crucial role and demonstrates the importance of an experimental approach of collaborative practice, as well as the interest in an implementation of knowledge in clearly contextualised situations.

Dr. Michèle Drechsler is Inspector of Education specializing in the field of ICT, and engineering of distance education. She has a PhD in information science and communication practices of socialbookmarking in the field of education. She also received a Master 2 "virtual communities and management of collective intelligence via digital networks." She has written numerous articles in the field of ICT, OER, open source, social web and on the practices of collaboration and knowledge sharing between users, including via social access patterns embedded in the the free movement of crops. She has designed and developed a module for ENT free (Iconito), training facilities integrating online virtual worlds. She studies the role of tools such as cognitive potential TBI,(Tableau blanc interatif - IWB- the iPads, and digital textbooks in the service of learning for primary education.
