About Jennifer D. Klein
Jennifer D. Klein, B.A., M.A., Literature and creative writing, has been teaching for the past 19 years, including five years in Central America and 11 years in all-girls education. She has published a wide array of creative and educational writings and is currently working on a variety of writing and research projects focused on Cuban education, Poetry of Witness strategies for teaching conflict, and the development of purposeful pedagogy which encourage social change.
Jennifer is currently Professional Development and Outreach Coordinator at TakingITGlobal, where she designs and delivers internationally accredited online e-courses for teachers across the globe. She is also the Director of Global Partnerships for World Leadership School, building online curriculum and collaborative learning experiences between North American classrooms and schools in other parts of the world, as well as leading professional development trainings and faculty development trips for WLS schools. Finally, Jennifer is Director of Educational Development for the Research Journalism Initiative, an educational non-profit which facilitates creative expression among Palestinian youth and the use of their projects in American classrooms.
Jennifer holds a principal's license and has a broad background in program planning, curriculum enrichment, single-sex education, student travel, and experiential, inquiry-driven learning. Raised in early models of experiential, progressive education herself, Jennifer is an expert in authentic project-based, student-driven learning strategies. Jennifer is current President and former Educational Chair for the United Nations Association Board of Directors, Denver-Metro Chapter.
Jennifer has spoken at various prestigious places like the Annual Conferences of the International Studies Schools Association, the National Association of Independent Schools, the People of Color Conference, and the International Society for Technology in Education. She has presented at New York University, Bard College, Fordham University, Penn State and Ithaca College.
She has coordinated a panel in Spanish for CLASE, a national conference to improve education across the United States of Mexico. Jennifer was the keynote speaker for the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools' Annual Technology Conference, and at the "Living in a Flat World: Global Education Conference" at EARTH University in Costa Rica, and she gave a special Professional Development Intensive for the International Association of Experiential Education. She has also given five presentations as part of GlobalEdCon2011.
