About the Class

This is the first tutorial of a series of five tutorials which will prepare you for the Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification. This tutorial will discuss the current state of programming languages, introduction to object-oriented programming principles, introduction to the .NET framework, how to use Visual Basic 2010 express edition and creating your first event driven VB.NET application.

Profile Summary

I received my first MSc in Wireless Enterprise Business Systems and my second MSc in Engineering Management from Brunel University, UK. I also studied Applied Simulation in Robotics at Dortmund University, Germany and hold a BSc in Computer Science from Bangalore University, India. I'm currently pursuing my PhD in Computer Science at University of Malaya. Having been in the software/technology industry prior to joining Wawasan Open University (WOU), Penang, Malaysia, my industry experience comes mostly from UK and Sri Lanka in software development, web development, e-commerce, project management, operations and R&D. Currently I’m a professional member of the BCS and IEEE. My present research is on Open Educational Resources (OER) under an IDRC grant. My research interests are OER, Technology for ODL, Virtual Collaboration, Intelligent Algorithms, Learning Algorithms. In my spare time I read Sci-Fi novels (favourite author is Michael Crichton), compose poetry, code intelligent algorithms and keep monster fish.
