About Steve
Steve Uccello is an Upright and Electric Bassist, mult-instrumentalist and composer. He's a versatile musician who authentically embraces each style he approaches.
Steve has self-produced three solo albums. The first solo CD by Steve was 2006's, Polar Vision, a vocal-psychedelic-folk-rock album. Most recently he has co-released the online collaborative CD 'Melbourne, Monterey' with Australian percussionist Nat Grant.
Studying under the world-renowned bassists Stan Poplin and Ray Drummond, as well as Saxophonist, Paul Contos Steve was the first Jazz Studies graduate from CSU Monterey Bay in 2005 (and so far the only, as Paul and Ray are no longer at CSUMB). Aside from having 4 instructional videos available through LearnTheLowEnd.com, Steve teaches upright bass, electric bass, and guitar privately.
Steve was a featured soloist with the Monterey Bay Jazz Orchestra at the 2009, 52nd Monterey Jazz Festival. He has shared the stage with artists such as Steve Lawson and Joe Craven. Uccello was a guest bassist at the 2009 Mandolin Symposium, playing with David Grisman's and Mike Marshall's student ensembles. He has toured and/or recorded with the unique singer/multi-instrumentalist Dayan Kai, Kerrville & Telluride winner Keith Greeninger, singer/environmental activist David Grimes, Jazz composer Kirk Danielson, Spanish Nuevo Cancion artist Juan L. Sanchez, and Italy based Gospel artist Nehemiah Brown.

Steve has also played solo sets at Y2K9 & Y2KX (the 2009 & 2010 installments of The Y2K International Live Looping Festival series) and organizes house concerts in the Monterey Bay area featuring touring and local artists alike.
