About the Class

Presenter: Lucian Duma who graduated from Eftimie Murgu University from Resita in 2004 and is now a teacher, social media curator, and researcher in Caransebes, Romania.

Description of the Presentation:

The #edtech20 project http://unhub.com/web20education/ is extended of the project “Teach, learn, play in 21st Century using web 2.0, social media used in an e-Safe way in education 2.0 " was selected a finalist project in ELEARNING AWARDS 2010 , runner up in the category ENISA silver award for teaching online safety and citizenship . I launch this project and teachers worldwide are invited to join and collaborate free in this project http://tiny.cc/docedtech20 because 2011 is the beginning of New Age of Curation. Curation has always been an under-rated form of creation and is the act of continually identifying, organizing, and sharing the best and most relevant content on a specific topic or issue online. Using these new curation tools, you can build a powerful PLN (Passionate Learning Network) and it can bring a new dimension in XXI Century Education.

Curators promote interaction, collaboration, as well as education around the topics that are important to them and they use also many web 2.0 and social media tools and applications .

Web 2.0 and social media can bring a new dimension and can reform education around the word because electronic communication helps teachers and students to learn from each other. These new technologies can stimulate discussion, open gateway through knowledge, promote creativity and innovation for effective learning. Teacher and also students must learn how to integrate this new technologies in XXI Century Education.

Pulling Piaget and Papert, the use of participatory media tools in education is typically geared towards creating a more student centered adaptive environment. The environment will allow learners to contribute to the course material, formulate, and express their own insights and opinion, and construct their own understanding of the material by connecting concepts to personal experience or current events and learning from one another in collaborative environments. Web 2.0, social media and other digital and information technologies are powerful and interesting tools, which open up new opportunities for everyone and for this reason teachers and students must know how to use it nowadays in a safety mode
